Amazon & Sensual Celibacy, the single writer's best friend

Just when you thought your book was too old and back listed for anyone to find value in it, someone writes a great review on Amazon.

Okay, enough with the third person. Proud Kindle Owner recently wrote this really nice review on Amazon about my book Sensual Celibacy: The Sexy Woman's Guide to Abstinence

"This book is a must read. It is juicy and satisfying and covers every subject when it comes to sex, intimacy, and relationships. Donna Marie Williams has inched her way to the top of my favorite authors list, right next to Iyanla Vanzant. I read this book in about three days and loved every moment. I am excited about working the program. After being celibate for two years I ordered the book looking for advice on how to continue strong. This book is a must for every woman practicing celibacy or thinking about it."

My Amazon sales ranking has been fluctuating quite a bit lately, which is better than flat lining, which older books often do. (Sensual Celibacy was published in 1999.) My strong suspicion is that my aggressive efforts to build my Pinterest and Twitter presence may be driving some of the sales. I think it would do even better if Simon & Schuster would offer it as an ebook. You know, the brown paper bag effect. No one wants to be caught on the train looking at porn or reading books about celibacy.

By the way, if you're a published author, writer, editor, or proofreader in an unsatisfying relationship, consider tabling sex for awhile. Your productivity will go through the roof! You'll have plenty of thought, emotional, and practical time to write your great novel, memoir, or how-to book. Bad relationships are big time wasters.

Give Sensual Celibacy a try. My program includes 10 steps:

Step 1 ~ Begin decisively
Step 2 ~ Know thy celibate self
Step 3 ~ Set, then pursue, goals
Step 4 ~ Heal your soul
Step 5 ~ Strengthen your celibacy practice
Step 6 ~ Mind your body
Step 7 ~ Get out of the house and mingle
Step 8 ~ Give men (or women) the benefit of the doubt
Step 9 ~ Model a healthy, happy celibate lifestyle
Step 10 ~ End intelligently and decisively

And for all writers who are considering a vacation from sex, write a book!

You're never too old to write a book

86-year old Georgia Gorringe (pen name "Georgie Marie") has proven you're never too old to write and publish. Ms. Georgie self-published her first book, No Good-Bye, with Amazon's CreateSpace. The book is a "steamy romance novel about a bored housewife."

Her accomplishment attracted the attention of AP, ABCnews, and other media outlets.

I haven't read the book yet, but I'm sharing the news because her story shows how the writing life can take you into your senior years. Also, getting older doesn't have to mean sexual death. As long as you're breathing, there's life in those loins!

High school English

TV commercials for school supplies are upon us once again, and they've got me thinking about students' writing performance on the NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress). Here's what we're dealing with, folks:

Awesome.

Actually, some of these are pretty funny, but kids, pay attention in English class this year!
